Privacy Policy

Spoonly is designed around a simple idea: your data is yours, and it stays on your device. This policy explains what that means in practice.

Last updated: 24 July 2026

The short version

Spoonly does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your personal information. There are no accounts, no servers, and no tracking. Everything you create in the app — recipes, meal plans, family members, shopping lists, and photos — is stored locally on your device and never leaves it, except where you explicitly choose to share it yourself (for example, using the iOS share sheet).

Information we collect

None. Spoonly does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

  • We do not require you to create an account or provide an email address.
  • We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools of any kind.
  • We do not have servers that receive your data, because your data never leaves your device.

Information stored on your device

Everything you add to Spoonly is saved only in the app's private storage on your device, including:

  • Recipes you create, import, or scan
  • Meal plans and calendar entries
  • Family member names, roles, and profile photos
  • Shopping list items
  • App preferences and settings

This information is under your control. If you delete the app, this data is removed from your device.

Camera and photo access

Spoonly can use your device's camera to scan recipes from cookbooks or paper, and can access photos you choose from your photo library to attach to recipes or profiles.

  • Camera and photo access are used only for the actions you initiate.
  • Images are processed entirely on your device. Recipe text recognition (OCR) runs locally using Apple's on-device Vision framework.
  • No photo or scanned image is ever uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere outside your device.

You can grant or revoke camera and photo permissions at any time in your device's Settings.

Children's privacy

Spoonly does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children. The app is safe for family use and contains no accounts, messaging, advertising, or external content.

Third parties

Spoonly does not share data with third parties, because Spoonly does not collect data. We do not integrate advertising networks, analytics providers, or social media trackers.

Data security

Because your data never leaves your device, it is protected by your device's own security — including your passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. We recommend keeping your device software up to date and using a device passcode.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version on this page. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on our website.
